Although they may seem like the perfect candidate on paper, it is vital to make sure that they form good relationships in the workplace. Look into the previous companies that they have worked for and try to see if they have a similar culture to your own if so, you could be onto a winner.
Consider Their Enthusiasm
During the interview process, which candidate seemed more enthusiastic about the position? If you really are having a difficult time choosing which candidate to select, it may be a good idea to invite them both to a morning trial. Show them around the workplace and see how they interact with team members.
If they still seem as enthusiastic about the position or they are asking questions, this could show how committed they are in wanting to gain this position more.
Consider Their Commitment
What are their long-term goals? When asked about “where do they see themselves in 5 years?” do they still see themselves in a position, in your company?
If they have a completely different idea, like setting up their own business or moving on at some, you know they’re not looking for a permanent role and could leave at any moment.
