Facebook is currently in talks to become one of the first tenants for the Capitol site in Cork City.

Facebook who currently employ 15,000 people worldwide and 1,800 from more that 70 countries in Dublin south Docklands are in advanced talk with JCD poperty developers for the top floor of the €50m office and shops Capital Scheme on Patrick’s Street and Grand Parade which is due to be complete in 2017.

Business sources have said the rapidly expanding Facebook subsidiary Oculus VR which develops cutting edge virtual-reality software, equipment, and headsets and which was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for €2bn will be involved in the move to a new Cork City base.

If the deal concludes it will mean a huge IT / social media coup for not only Ireland but also Cork.
