Help! Your interview is coming up. How can you make sure that you get the job?
One sure way is to start preparing your answers to some of the most commonly asked interview questions. In order to gauge your interest one of those questions may be:
“Why do you want to work for us?”
What the interviewer is looking for by asking this question is:
- Learn about your career goals and how this role fits into your plan
- Make sure that you are sincerely interested in the position and will be motivated to perform the required tasks if hired
- Find out what you know about the company, industry, role (and if you took the time to research)
- Understand your priorities and preferences — which aspects of the company and/or job appeals to you and why?
The best way to answer this question is to link the skill requirements outlined in the job description to those of your own.
Talking about current projects or company news shows that you have done your research and is a great foundation to start building your answer on. Really show your interest in the role and what contribution you can make if you are hired.
